Last month, a husband and wife who both worked as on-air anchors at a TV station in Little Rock, Arkansas, were fired along with two other employees.
In this era of layoffs, what’s the big deal?
Well, the big deal is that these folks had produced “unauthorized, offensive and distasteful” videos using the TV station’s studio and equipment.
Pretty dumb, huh? Wait, it gets worse.
In the videos, as it turns out, these lamebrains dissed their employers and insulted the station’s viewers and the people of Arkansas generally.
But hold on, there’s still more.
They posted the videos on YouTube.
Ya gotta wonder, though.
How horrible do your job and work environment have to be to make you snap and do something really unprofessional and stupid?
Seems to me there are other options available.
For one, you can look for a better job.
By “better,” I don’t necessarily mean a job that just pays more money. I mean one that might offer more creative freedom, flexible hours, and more leisure time.
That’s not easy to find, of course.
Or you can shrug off the job, start your own business, and call your own shots.
Again, not easy to do.
But with a marketable idea, some know-how, and determination, it’s simpler than it was even a few years ago.
As I’ve explained before, I haven’t been a wage slave in many years.
In fact, most afternoons, I can sit in my backyard with a cigar, a pint of Guinness, and a laptop and “do business,” whether it’s writing, consulting, e-publishing, or internet marketing.
Wanna join me?
