Occasionally — but not too often — they use FB’s poke feature just to say “hi” for no special reason or to remind me they’re still around, even if they don’t have anything clever to say at the moment.
I don’t use the Facebook “poke” myself — maybe I should — but I like getting a friendly nudge every once in awhile. It’s nice to be remembered.
I wish the “poke” was a bit more functional, though.
Wouldn’t it be terrific if FB friends could adjust their pokes to deliver you quick, helpful reminders? Like…
[POKE] “Why the heck are you fussing around on Facebook when you oughta be launching a new product?”
[POKE] “Isn’t it time you wrote a new blog post?”
[POKE] “Fer crissakes…DO something!”
Those are the kinda pokes I could really use.
My mom used to insist that most day-to-day problems and nuisances were still “better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.”
But sometimes a poke with a sharp stick (maybe not in the eye) is just what’s called for.
We usually need a little poke just to get started on anything.
Feel free to gimme a poke now and then, whether on Facebook or by email.
