Now here’s a brain worm I really like

spamalot2I’ve seen the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail a whole lotta times.

In fact, so many times that, given two pints of Guinness, I’ll rattle off the entire Swamp Castle scene for you. (“Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let’s not bicker and argue over who killed who.”)

Well, last Sunday night, Deb and I finally caught up with Monty Python’s Spamalot, the musical stage production based on Holy Grail.

The show’s hilarious and we had a fantastic time.

But it DID plant one of those brain worms in my head — you know, a song that runs round and round in your noggin and you can’t do a damn thing to dislodge it.

Fortunately, I like this particular worm.

It’s the song “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” which actually comes from the film Monty Python’s Life of Brian but fits into Spamalot beautifully.

So here’s what’s pulsing through my brainpan as I enter the coming weekend…

If life seems jolly rotten
There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you’re feeling in the dumps
Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle, that’s the thing

And always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the right side of life

Not a bad life philosophy at all.

I hope you have a terrific weekend.
