That’s what she calls a crappy attitude.
And yessiree…today, this dude’s got tude.
I’ll spare you the gory details, but a friend broke a promise to me.
Not for the first time.
For the second.
And you can screw third strikes. I don’t wait around for them.
So I’m a little cranky right now.
But to burn off some of that crankiness, please allow me to vent for a minute.
The fastest way to shatter my trust in you — whether you’re family, an old friend, a business owner, a business partner, a client, or a customer — is to demonstrate that you don’t keep your word.
I never thought I’d ever, EVER quote Oprah Winfrey, but here goes…
“Keeping my word is a mandate I live by. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve committed to doing something, then later wanted to get out of it but ended up doing it anyway because, for me, backing out is never an option. If I agree to do something, the only way I’m not going to do it is if I’m too sick to move. …
“The reason I so rarely break promises to other people? It breaks trust. Without trust there’s no relationship.”
Want a successful friendship, marriage, or business?
Don’t make promises you can’t keep.
Just keep your word.
Don’t be an asshat.
There, I’m done.
My tude’s better now.
P.S. If you wanna avoid asshattery and dodge being thought of as an asshat, you really should take a look right here…
