“Druck” yo’self and get crap done

peter-druckerThat great old business guru Peter Drucker used to say, “Do the right things instead of trying to do everything right.”

Methinks that’s easier said than done.

Most’ve us seem hardwired to let perfectionism screw with our skulls. Instead of getting shit done, we worry about whether we’re getting it done “just so.”

Even more troubling is figuring out just what “right things” we ought’a be doing. And will we know those “right things” when we see them?

After some thought, I believe “Druckerizing” your life comes down to asking yourself a few questions…

— What’s the best use of my time right now?

Maybe your answer is just “I have to get up, get showered, and get the hell out the door.” The answer probably isn’t as important as your having asked yourself the question in the first place.

— What will best expand my knowledge or light a fire under me right now?

Is it a book, a movie, an audio program, a DVD?

— What people should I spend time with today to help reach my goals?

Network. Join a “mastermind.” Pursue joint bid’niz ventures with friends and competitors.

But avoid the negative types.

— What’s the best way for me to market my product or service today?

Your answer might vary monthly, weekly, even daily, cuz strategies change. New sales tactics will come your way occasionally.

— What project will make me the most money at the least risk?

Don’t jump into every business project that hits you on the side of the head, but also don’t be so cautious that you never make a decision. Trust your instincts and, with the counsel of a business mentor or “mastermind” group, move ahead!

In a nutshell, live mindfully. Keep aware of your actions.

Here are some more methods you might wanna pursue…
