Why you won’t make doodly-squat in 2015

360173450_5ee30101ee_oWe’re already a week into the new year, so it’s probably time I took a dump on some of your dreams and goals.

Especially if you’re of the younger persuasion.

Get a load of this…

If you aspire to find your satisfaction and fulfillment in life from helping others through a career in social work, or special education, or human services, or child development, or early childhood education, I respect the hell outta you.

But don’t expect to make much money.

According to Payscale, the creator of the world’s largest compensation database, career niches like those have the suckiest salary growth in the country.

You won’t make doodly-squat.

For instance, child development has the lowest starting salary ($32,200) and mid-career pay ($36,400) while showing the least amount of growth in the first 10 years ($4,200, or 13%).

Of course, making money isn’t always the most important thing. Says Kayla Hill, one of Payscale’s research analysts, “People in support service jobs tend to find a high level of meaning from their jobs despite the lower pay.”

But why not help people AND make some decent moolah at the same time?

Here’s a great recipe for success: find problems and solve them, find wants and fill them.

Pretty simple, huh?

It’s a strategy I’ve leaned on for quite awhile, and you can find my entire detailed game plan right here…
