Here’s an elementary clue to bigger income

gamesafoot_big-001I wanna talk about something really simple today.

Simple…but it can make you a lot of moola.

Lemme start at the beginning…

Every once in awhile, I’ll find a photo or poster that I like so much, I’ve just gotta get it professionally framed.

Well, that happened last month when I purchased a large, signed, limited edition, numbered print by MAD Magazine artist Tom Richmond.

The print features clever caricatures of eight movie and TV portrayers of Sherlock Holmes, my favorite literary character, spanning more than 90 years — John Barrymore, Basil Rathbone, Peter Cushing, Christopher Plummer, Michael Caine, Jeremy Brett, Robert Downey, Jr., and Benedict Cumberbatch.

So I gently carried my Sherlockian prize to a high-end frame shop a few miles north of here. I’d never used this shop before. It was, as they say, a crapshoot. But two weeks later, I had in my hands a beautifully matted and framed piece of art.

It was kind’ve expensive, but it was worth every penny.

Now, here’s the Grand Finale.

Last Saturday, I got a handwritten note in the mail from the owner of the frame shop.

“Walter, thank you for bringing in your print to be framed. We hope you are pleased with how it turned out! Ari”

Nuttin’ snazzy. I’m sure Ari dashes off the same thank-you to every single customer.

But receiving a follow-up thank-you by mail from a business nowadays is so rare that this packed a wallop for me.

Would an email have had a similar impact?

No. An email would’ve been a nice thought, but the fact that a handwritten note arrived by “snail mail” is what made this special.

It’s a simple thing to personally write a thank-you note, but it made all the difference to me. It made Ari’s frame shop stand out from a crowded marketplace. She’ll get ALL my framing business from now on.

Here’s the deal…

Thanking your customers or clients is important.

Personalizing that thank-you can rock their world and keep them coming back to you forever.

It’s persuasive.

And speaking of persuasive…
