Red, white, blue, and obnoxious

2457777-red-white-and-blue-stars-on-swirl-backgroundGod help me, we’re fast-approaching a run-off election for county supervisor in my neck o’ the woods. And if you know me at all, you know I fookin’ HATE electoral politics.

Can’t stand ’em.

So you can imagine my irritation as I drive around town and see curbs and front lawns festooned with red, white, blue, and obnoxious campaign placards.

Ugh!

One candidate’s sign describes her this way: “Local. Balanced. Experienced.”

The other candidate’s sign trumpets, “Lynn cares!”

Meh.

Meaningless blather.

Honestly, the only thing that distinguishes one from the other, in my opinion, is that one’s kind’ve a hottie, the other not so much.

I’m sure local political hacks will argue with me otherwise.

That’s fine, but here comes my point…

Unless you have a uniqueness about you, unless something separates you from the herd out there, no one’s gonna buy — whether in politics or in business.

Branding is what jumps into someone’s head when your name is mentioned. And it’s critical to success.

But here’s something scary…

If you don’t pay attention and work consciously on creating a solid personal brand for yourself, you run the risk of getting branded through the false opinions of others.

You’re going to get branded one way or another. Why not take control yourself and get it done right?
